Dynatek CDI for the Yamaha Rhino 450
I just swapped out my stock Rhino CDI for this Dynatek 450 CDI. It was so easy to install (one bolt and 3 harness connectors). The Rhino CDI is located inside the battery box under the hood. This mod made the Rhino accelerate and rev up slightly faster. My rhino seems to sound better now too. The top speed limiter was removed making my Rhino have a top speed of 41-42 MPH on the street. It could hit 36-37 MPH before with my 26" tires. The annoying rev-limiter popping at top speed is gone and it revs all the way up to 9000 RPMs over the stock 7400 RPMs. You can really feel and hear it rev past where the limiter used to be! I expected it to go way faster with this $225 upgrade but I got a 3-5 MPH increase and some better acceleration on a bone stock motor. I just raced another Rhino 450 on the street and beat him both times by 3 or 4 Rhino lengths. Before we were side by side for miles every time we raced. I think all CDIs that look like the Dynatek CDI are made by Dynatek and re-badged. I recommend keeping your stock CDI on hand just in case. Combine a CDI with an exhaust and intake and your Rhino will ride the way it should. It feels so good to pass that rev limiter and open it up. In the dirt or sand it makes very little difference on the 450, the street or hard pack dirt is where the CDI really prevails.

There is a CDI available for the 450, 660, and the 700 with fuel injection

Was the Dynatek CDI worth $225 bucks? If you think 3-5 MPH is worth $225 bucks then get it. I did.

Update: If you have a CDI you will pull away from stock Rhinos when they hit top speed. In the dirt it helps a little on the 450.
